You know, one of the hardest things I’ve found in painting is not the art itself but naming the pieces! This one here was named “Blue Wave” well, because... sort of like the ingredients in brown sugar pie (we maritimers love this stuff!!!) it’s all in the title...
This one was painted while stuck in a compound in Addis Abiba in November 2018 - because of a host of issues related to political corruption and a new government coming into power the road where the bus I would have been taking to Airan was blocked in a couple of towns with demonstrations and some shooting where sadly a few people had been killed. The result was I couldn’t go to teach at the seminary as planned and my friend who is principal of the seminary was stuck with me for ten days at the church missionary compound. We drank copious amount of coffee, macchiato and beer. And do in my quiet time I was able to paint four paintings and this was one of them (all done in acrylic). A great trip nonetheless!
